Carey Price back with the Canadiens? The goaltender could take on a very different role in the organization
Over the past few hours, journalist Marc Antoine Grondin, who covers the activities of the Montreal Canadiens, has published a very interesting report concerning Carey Price on The Athletic website.
Indeed, he mentioned that the Canadiens should follow the Florida Panthers' example by establishing a department for goaltenders. Marc Antoine Grondin also added that Carey Price would undoubtedly be the ideal candidate for this role within the organization.
"And what if Price became the authority capable of overseeing the development of the organization's goalkeepers? [...] There might be a way for Price to make a transition from player to leader, similar to what Roberto Luongo did in Florida." - Marc Antoine Grondin
When Carey Price gave an update on his injury last October, the Canadiens' goalie had indicated that his goal was still to win a Stanley Cup in the NHL, regardless of the role he would have in the organization.
"I've always been an optimist so I'm not giving up, and I'm certainly not giving up the goal of winning the Stanley Cup in any way, no matter what role." - Carey Price
Although this quote did not catch the attention of journalists who mainly wanted to get news about his injury and the possibility of him making a comeback this season, it now makes complete sense.
If the Canadiens decide to create a new department to oversee the organization's goalkeepers, there's no doubt that Carey Price would be the perfect person to take care of it.
Will the former #31 emulate Roberto Luongo by embarking on a new career as a leader? One thing is certain, the idea is very interesting and it would be greatly beneficial for the Canadiens to involve Carey Price if such a process is set up!
