Canadiens' Ivan Demidov Leaves Game Following Slash from Nick Cousins
The night took a worrying turn for the Montreal Canadiens as Ivan Demidov left the game after a one-handed slash, according to reporter Renaud Lavoie.
Here's the clip of the injury:
It was
Nick Cousins who delivered the slash, a frankly unnecessary move.
I must admit I'm really frustrated to see this kind of gesture. It was cheap and absolutely unnecessary.
Here's the reaction from Montreal Gazette journalist, Stu Cowan.
"Senators' Nick Cousins is the definition of a rat in hockey. Cheap-shot artist. Showing it again with slash to hand of Habs Ivan Demidov."
- Stu Cowan
The Canadiens Come Out Strong Against the Ottawa Senators
For his part, Marco d'Amico also had a lot to say:
"The Canadiens aren't backing down from the rough stuff, but this is getting a little excessive from the Senators.
Especially that slash on Demidov; absolutely unnecessary at this stage in the game in the preseason." - Marco D'Amico
The Habs are nevertheless playing an excellent game so far at the Videotron Centre, in an electric atmosphere. Quebec fans really showed up!
These fans had plenty to cheer for with the team's collective play, but Demidov's exit completely changes the tone of the matchup.
