In a game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators, Martin St-Louis exploded after Nick Cousins' dirty hit on Ivan Demidov, he didn't mince his words.
The Videotron Centre saw a very emotional game last night, including many great plays from the Canadiens.
The young Russian forward suddenly left the game after the dirty play.
Martin St-Louis condemns the action and strongly defends Ivan Demidov
At the press conference, Martin St-Louis didn't hesitate for a single second to denounce this kind of action, especially in a simple preseason game.
"There's no need for that. It's an exhibition game, both teams are trying to get ready for a long season. I don't think there's any need for that in the game."
- Martin St-Louis
A young player like Demidov, who is seen as a cornerstone of the Canadiens' future, shouldn't have to fear that kind of hit when he doesn't even have the puck.
I have to admit I'm very, very frustrated with Cousins. It was a cheap shot.
One thing's for sure, Canadiens fans will let him know what they think the next time he comes to the Bell Centre.
It remains to be seen if the NHL will decide to review the play. I really like seeing the head coach come to the defense of his players like that.
