Trade Market: The player targeted by Kent Hughes is now revealed
During the third round of the draft, General Manager Kent Hughes was seen with his counterpart Bill Armstrong of the Arizona Coyotes for long minutes as the two men tried to finalize a trade.
A few minutes later, Renaud Lavoie notably unveiled the identity of the player targeted by the Tricolore during these discussions.
"We showed visuals of Kent Hughes talking with Bill Armstrong of the Arizona Coyotes. The Montreal Canadiens were trying to get another third round pick, without success.
The player identified was Mathieu Cataford, I am told. He was eventually drafted by Vegas." - Renaud Lavoie Unfortunately for the fans who wanted to see the Quebecer selected by the Canadiens, Kent Hughes was unable to make a deal with the Coyotes to get another third-round pick.
Mathieu Cataford, who scored 31 goals and 44 assists (75 points) with the Halifax Mooseheads this season, was finally drafted 77th overall by the Las Vegas Golden Knights a few seconds later.
