Since Kasimir Kaskisuo's arrival with the Laval Rocket, Dobes has been outstanding, with a very impressive record. He is undoubtedly one of the reasons for the Rocket's success on the road to the playoffs.
All the young goaltender needed was a veteran to support him, which he didn't have with Strauss Mann earlier in the season. Kaskisuo brought a certain balance to him.
But why get rid of Cayden Primeau when he is currently playing the best hockey of his professional career? Renaud Lavoie had something to say about this.
Cayden Primeau could, if he continues to play this way, fetch a good return for the Canadiens. We're talking about a 7th round pick who could bring in much more than he cost the Canadiens.
Jakub Dobes, as things stand now, could easily handle the role of backing up Monty according to Lavoie.
For my part, I believe it's too early to make such a decision, but I understand the organization and Kent Hughes wanting to trade him. Primeau certainly has good value, but with names like Jacob Markstrom and Linus Ulmark available this summer, Primeau shouldn't generate that much interest.
