Montreal Canadiens: a real slap in the face of Michael Matheson
Michael Matheson has stood out as one of the top defensemen in the NHL this season.
In addition to logging significant ice time over 82 games, he has consistently faced the toughest opponents night after night, while amassing an impressive total of 62 points, ranking 9th among NHL defensemen.
It's truly incredible, and he deserves the recognition that has eluded him.
Indeed, according to a survey of 2,896 respondents, Matheson is ranked 68th among NHL defensemen.
Looking at the list of defensemen ranked ahead of him, I could easily name 30 who do not deserve to be ranked higher, and based solely on this past season, more than 50 defensemen don't deserve to be ahead of him.
This is a real slap in the face to the Canadiens defenseman, who once again isn't receiving the credit he deserves.
A similar situation happened with Samuel Montembeault. Truly, the Canadiens players deserve more recognition, and it's sad to see their hard work going unnoticed.
