Return with the Canadiens: shocking statement from Laurent Dauphin
Laurent Dauphin enjoyed his time with the Canadiens organization, even having the opportunity to play 38 games with the main club.
However, things went awry when it came time to sign his next contract.
Indeed, Dauphin turned down an offer from Montreal to sign a similar deal with Arizona.
«When I signed, it seemed logical; I thought I would be the 12th or 13th forward in Arizona, and the 14th or 15th in Montreal.»

The problem is that he only played 21 games there and did not get the expected role.
In an interview with La Presse, Dauphin admitted that it was not a good decision.

Other players have taken the same route without success. Alex Belzile and Anthony Richard both believed that signing elsewhere would give them a better chance to play in the NHL, but to no avail.
Fortunately for Dauphin, he is back home. He is very happy with his role as a veteran with the Rocket and who knows, he might be called up during the season.
The Canadiens do not have much depth at forward and the young players with the Rocket are not necessarily ready.
