A major statement has just surfaced regarding Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Montreal Canadiens
A story that generated a lot of buzz this summer is undoubtedly the potential arrival of Pierre-Luc Dubois in Montreal. Finally, a few days before the NHL draft, the Quebec native forward was traded to the Los Angeles Kings, putting an end to the many speculations linking him to the Tricolore.
Despite the fact that the 25-year-old forward repeatedly said he wanted to play for the Canadiens, Tony Marinaro denied this rumor during his appearance on BPM Sports' airwaves yesterday. In fact, the journalist stated that PLD made such declarations only with the intention of driving up his price, as he never truly wanted to wear the Habs' uniform.
"No, I don't think Dubois intended to come play for the Montreal Canadiens. I think that Pierre-Luc Dubois, like many Quebecers, used the Canadiens for his own benefit.
It drove up the bids.
If Pierre-Luc Dubois really wanted to come play for the Canadiens, he would have said he wouldn't sign with any team other than the CH. He could have done that!" - Tony Marinaro
Ouch! As many CH fans pointed out over the summer, Dubois used the Canadiens to serve his own interests. If this information is true, and it most likely is given Tony Marinaro's excellent sources in the hockey world, the Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts native never intended to come to Montreal.
We are very pleased to see that Kent Hughes did not want to overpay to acquire him. The organization wants to establish a winning culture with players who genuinely want to play with the team, and evidently, Pierre-Luc Dubois did not fit in this.
