Canadiens and Wild transaction: it's becoming clearer

The Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota Wild would make good trading partners for several reasons.

Firstly, they don't play in the same division, which is a significant factor. Secondly, the Canadiens have many young, inexpensive players and a lot of draft picks, as well as salary cap space.

Conversely, the Wild don't have much space due to buyouts that have hurt them. They need young players and draft picks.

Since we learned that young Marco Rossi is on the market, the fit suddenly seems perfect for Kent Hughes. Rossi could definitely be the next Kirby Dach for the Canadiens.

According to Arpon Basu, it would be very surprising if the Jets' first-round pick, which belongs to the Canadiens from the Sean Monahan trade, remains in Montreal's possession.

"I would be extremely surprised if the Canadiens still have their first-round pick from the Winnipeg Jets by the end of the first round."

That doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, but let's just say Kent Hughes' target must be Minnesota right now.

Rossi was the 9th overall pick in 2020. He's young and talented, having scored 40 points, including 21 goals, this season. He's ready to reach the next level.

It's certain that if Kent Hughes trades the Jets' pick for him, there will need to be an addition, but that shouldn't be a problem.
