In search of offensive talent, the next contract for Martin Necas has been suggested by former NHL player, Éric Bélanger.
According to the former Minnesota Wild player during his appearance on BPM Sports radio, Éric Bélanger has suggested the salary that the Canadiens would need to pay if they were to acquire the rights of the restricted free agent.
For seven seasons, this would mean a contract worth 49 million dollars, which makes perfect sense in my opinion.

Panelists Martin Lemay and Steve Bégin seemed surprised by the statement. However, an average annual salary of 6.5 to 7 million dollars is the minimum price to pay for a young 25-year-old forward who has just amassed 71 points and 53 points (mostly on a second line in 2023-2024) over the past two seasons.
Personally, your humble servant loves the offensive dynamism of Martin Necas. His speed, his hands, his touch around the net, and his ability to create space make him a major asset for a team aspiring to make the playoffs in the near future. With Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, and Necas, we can confidently say that the future is bright for Kent Hughes.
His versatility would make him the perfect candidate, but it would be surprising if the Carolina Hurricanes' general manager, Don Waddell, would agree to part with him, even if his father has been making headlines in the media lately.
In the most recent playoffs, he proved to be an important asset for the team with nine points in 11 playoff games.
If you were Kent Hughes, would you agree to a 7-year deal for a salary of 49 million dollars?
Only time will tell...
