Every Friday, the former member of the organization, Marc Dumont, answers various questions from fans in his famous column Habs Mailbag on the Montreal Hockey Now site. However, following a question from a Canadiens fan, he made a major statement, ruling out Logan Mailloux from the Montreal defense in the coming years.

While expectations are enormously high for the Tricolore prospect, Marc Dumont projects that Logan Mailloux will become a seventh defenseman when all the players in the organization come to maturity.

Wow! We didn't expect that!

Many fans will be disappointed to read such a statement, as many see the imposing defenseman forming a pair with Kaiden Guhle in the future. Moreover, the vast majority of fans believe that Logan Mailloux has the necessary assets to be a quality quarterback on the power play, he who has a devastating shot and a very impressive offensive instinct.

Here are the defensive duos projected by Marc Dumont:

First pair: Lane HutsonDavid Reinbacher

Second pair: Adam Engstrom Kaiden Guhle

Third pair: Jordan HarrisBogdan Konyushkov

Extras: Logan Mailloux, William Trudeau

While it's rather disappointing to see that Logan Mailloux is not among the top six defensemen of the Tricolore, it's very encouraging to see that Adam Engstrom is in the top-4 and that the 2023 fourth round pick, Bogdan Konyushkov, could cause a surprise and carve out a spot on the third defensive pair.

We can also notice that Justin Barron and Arber Xhekaj are not in his lineup. According to him, the Canadiens will try to trade them when certain prospects such as Adam Engstrom and Bogdan Konyushkov will be ready to make the jump into the NHL. Let's bet that this decision would not be unanimous among Montreal fans as Arber Xhekaj has quickly become a crowd favorite.

"I don't think Jayden Struble will make the jump into the NHL, and I also assume they will find new lineups for players like Justin Barron, Arber Xhekaj, and Johnathan Kovacevic." - Marc Dumont

Personally, we are confident that Logan Mailloux has the necessary qualities to become a regular defenseman in Martin St. Louis's lineup, who could have a key role in the coming years. In addition, we strongly believe that it would be a grave mistake to trade Arber Xhekaj, as the defenseman brings a physical aspect that no other player on the team (with the exception of Kaiden Guhle?) can bring to the CH defense.
