According to a new report by the site Danslescoulisses.com, Christian Dvorak, who is still recovering from a knee surgery he underwent last season, will likely miss the start of the season as he continues his recovery.
This is incredibly unfortunate for not only Dvorak but Canadiens Head Coach Martin St-Louis, who heavily relied on Dvorak's defensive game as a two-way center.
Mathias Brunet then made an appearance on "BPM Sports", where he confirmed that Dvorak's status is still unknown as of now.
While St-Louis would obviously rather have a veteran guy like Dvorak in his lineup, his absence creates a unique opportunity for a younger player to earn a spot on the Canadiens straight out of training camp.
One name who comes to mind is forward Lias Andersson, who signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canadiens this summer as an unrestricted free agent.
Andersson was a former top-ten draft pick of Jeff Gorton, who as you all know now works in Montreal's front office. Despite a rocky start to his career, Andersson put together a stellar campaign in the AHL last season, and could finally make the jump to a full-time NHL role this season.
What do you think? Should Montreal try to take advantage of this situation?
