A new and very interesting trade proposal involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Chicago Blackhawks has just surfaced.
In fact, the Chicago-based Barstool Sports site has put forward the possibility that the two teams could conclude a major trade before the start of the draft. The journalist proposed that the Canadiens send their two first-round picks to obtain the Blackhawks' pick as well as a second-round pick.
Of course, there could be some changes with the lottery that will take place next Monday, but in theory, the Habs would get the third and fifty-sixth overall picks by trading their first-round pick as well as the Panthers' first-round pick.
Would you accept this trade if you were Kent Hughes?
In Montreal: #3 and #56 overall picks
In Chicago: #5 and #17 overall picks
In the midst of their rebuilding process, the Hawks could replenish their prospect pool by acquiring two players in the top 20. Meanwhile, the Canadiens' front office could ensure they add exceptional talent to their organization by drafting Leo Carlsson, Matvei Michkov, or even Will Smith.
"The ideal situation would be if the Canadiens were in love with Matvei Michkov or Leo Carlsson. We could exchange picks #3 and #56 for picks #5 and #17. If we could end up with Will Smith in addition to the 17th pick that would be added to the 20th pick we already have, we could add two prospects like Gavin Brindley and Gabe Perreault who would be excellent additions to our pipeline." - Barstool Sports Credit: Habs et LNH
