A significant absence is noticed at the Canadiens' camp, and here is the reason
The dawn of the new season officially begins today for the Montreal Canadiens as the rookie camp for the young players of the organization kicks off.
The first day is dedicated to medical and physical tests live from the Brossard Complex. The Canadiens' rookies will then prepare for the three games they will play over the weekend in Buffalo.
Among all the young players participating in this camp, a significant absence is noticeable, especially considering his remarkable breakout last year.
He went from being a relatively unknown third-round pick for the organization to a prospect with a genuine potential to break into the team's lineup in the coming years. I am referring to defenseman Adam Engstrom.
Many fans were eager to see him in action at the rookie camp and also at the Canadiens' main camp in a few days. Unfortunately, he won't be present this year. However, as reported by Nicolas Cloutier from TVA Sports, the 19-year-old Swede provided a good reason for his absence. The journalist even offers a very interesting insight into what the future holds for him.
Engstrom confirmed it to me himself. He will have a significant role in the top 4 of Rögle in Sweden.

It should be noted that his season in the SHL starts tomorrow, meaning that Engstrom would have missed several days of activity in his Swedish season. Even though we would have liked to see his progression with NHL players, it must be said that this initiative of the youngster to focus on his campaign is an excellent reason.
It proves his seriousness in wanting to do things the right way, and it has allowed us to learn that he should be making his final move to North America next year.
He will have an increased role with his outstanding Rogle training, expected to play significant minutes in all aspects of the game. Unlike last year, where he had to make his way into the top-4 defense, this time, he'll be in from the start of the season.
It will certainly be a big campaign for his development, and it will be interesting to monitor his progress, as he had surprised many analysts with a tally of six goals and 16 points in 43 games in 2022-2023. He was even his team's best player in the playoffs, amassing three goals and five points in nine games.
