In relation to his organization's acquisition, the Avs' GM, Chris MacFarland, confirmed a very interesting rumor that had been circulating about the signing of this former Canadiens player.
It was Nathan MacKinnon who advocated for Drouin's signing in Colorado, as he reportedly urged his general manager to offer him a contract.
We all knew there was a natural connection between the 28-year-old winger and this team, obviously due to the presence of his good friend MacKinnon. However, MacFarland openly confirmed that his captain definitely had a say in this acquisition.
It's clear that the two players could even play a few games together, to see if the chemistry could spark once again. One thing is certain, Drouin has never had a line-mate of the quality that he will have in Colorado.
Here's a potential lineup with him on the first line:
Wow! Playing with MacKinnon and Rantanen, we're at a whole different level than in Montreal.
In their last season together in the QMJHL, just before the 2013 draft, Drouin racked up an incredible 105 points in 49 games with Mackinnon. For his part, MacKinnon amassed a record of 75 points in 44 games.
It promises to be an exciting next year for Jonathan, and we greatly wish him to flourish with his new team!
