They announced that they have signed a professional tryout contract with forward Colin White, a former first-round pick in 2015 by the Ottawa Senators.
At 26 years old, White has accumulated a total of 103 points, including 44 goals in 292 career games in the NHL.
After a full first season where he tallied 14 goals and 41 points in 71 games, the American center player inked a significant six-year contract a year later, with an annual value of 4.75 million.
Unfortunately for him, injuries significantly slowed down his development. He never fully regained the caliber he demonstrated in his early days in the league. He was eventually bought out by the Senators three years later before joining the Florida Panthers last year.
In his seventh professional season, if he can find his offensive touch with an excellent team like the Penguins, White could definitely revive his career, and it could turn out to be a very rewarding and low-cost move made by GM Kyle Dubas.
