Arber Xhekaj has only been wearing the Montreal Canadiens' uniform for a single season, and he's already a fan favorite.
His style of play, personality, and charisma make him a wonderful individual not only within the team but also in the community.
Despite his skyrocketing popularity in just one year, he has remained the same young man, and an absolutely incredible story surfaced over the weekend proving just how exceptional a human being he is.
The Canadiens' number 72 recently participated in a very important charity event aimed at helping numerous patients who spend decades in complex care units of hospitals, who will never return home, who find themselves without tools and financial means to fend for themselves, and who have been abandoned by their families and society.
The founder of The Angel Project foundation, Lisette Kingo, showed immense love for the Canadiens' defenseman by recounting a wonderful gesture on his part.
"At first, I thought he was simply going to send us his jersey, but he arrived with his parents and took the time to talk to everyone."
"He had been supporting us for several years, but he came to see me and told me he wanted to do more," emphasized Ms. Kingo. "That's what touched me. Few people do that. Most of the time, we have to ask them to get involved, but he came to me and said: 'I had no idea of the situation these people are in before hearing these testimonials. We must do something. Let me help you. I want to become an ambassador.'
She concluded by mentioning how incredible Xhekaj is:
"A genuine person, with a big heart, whose values are in the right place."
We love hearing such stories from our Habs!
