BREAKING: The Montreal Canadiens organization has suddenly lost a defenseman, as Andrew Nielsen leaves the Lions of Trois-Rivières
It has just been announced a sudden loss in the Canadiens' organization, as an important defenseman for the new season of the Lions de Trois-Rivières, Andrew Nielsen, has decided to suddenly leave his team.
However, just a few months ago, he had signed an agreement with the Tricolore's farm team. He was, moreover, a catch greatly appreciated by fans, due to his imposing physique of 6'4" and 225 pounds, as well as his ability to produce offensively and defend his teammates.
The 26-year-old defenseman has thus decided to snub the Lions to join a team in a league in Norway for the next campaign.
A third-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2015, he was perceived as one of the top prospects in the organization not so long ago. However, he has never managed to establish himself in the NHL, being limited to playing games in the AHL and the ECHL.
In 47 games last year, he accumulated 41 points, including nine goals, in addition to totaling 166 penalty minutes.
