As August comes to an end and the official return to school has begun, the summer season is now behind us.

With the end of the summer period comes the return of NHL activities, much to the delight of fans. With September just around the corner, the unmistakable scent of hockey is starting to fill the air once again.

Moreover, as evidence that the new season is rapidly approaching, we have just learned from the Cap Friendly website that the Montreal Canadiens' fifth-round pick in the last draft, David Reinbacher, has officially been released by his team, EHC Kloten, in the Swiss National League.

This indicates that the Austrian defenseman will be back in Quebec shortly, as he will take part in the Canadiens' rookie camp, which begins on September 13th, as well as the highly anticipated rookie tournament, taking place from September 15th to 18th, live from Buffalo.

The 18-year-old young man will also be part of the Canadiens' training camp, which will be officially initiated on September 21st. I wouldn't be surprised if the management dares to use him for several preseason games, possibly three or four out of six, to see him perform against NHL players.

Should he prove himself against an increasingly competitive level of play, the Canadiens might even be tempted to offer him a few games allowed by the league at the beginning of the season, without using up the first year of his entry contract.

We're excited to see his performance in the upcoming weeks, especially considering his excellence in a professional league during the past year, all while being an 18-year-old.
