Completely Crazy Trade Proposal Between the Canadiens and the Rangers
Yesterday afternoon, on the airwaves of BPM Sports, Georges Laraque discussed a trade proposal that could completely change the future of the Canadiens.
Indeed, the former NHL player asked Maxime Truman if the Canadiens should trade Juraj Slafkovsky to acquire the services of Quebecer Alexis Lafrenière.
Although Maxime Truman seemed categorical, stating that he would not trade the 19-year-old, Georges Laraque seemed willing to make this trade.
Since entering the NHL, Alexis Lafrenière has struggled to secure a regular spot on the top two lines of the New York Rangers. The 21-year-old forward had the best season of his career this year with 16 goals and 23 assists in 81 games, claiming 91 points in 216 games in the NHL so far.
On the other hand, Juraj Slafkovsky was limited to only 39 games due to a nasty injury that kept him out of play for the remainder of the season. The Slovak collected 4 goals and 6 assists in his rookie year. However, the 2022 first round pick has just turned 19 and it would be very risky to base his potential solely on this small sample, as he has the potential to become a star in the NHL.
