The Canadiens' general manager would therefore like to make another transaction similar to the Kirby Dach one, to acquire a promising young forward who could speed up the rebuilding process begun by the organization. Wow, this is promising!
In addition, David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period added fuel to the fire by mentioning that Kent Hughes had been very active yesterday and this morning, in order to complete a trade by the draft. One thing's for sure, it will be very interesting to see if the Red-White-Blue will be able to conclude a transaction in the next few hours. Could Kent Hughes trade the 31st and 37th overall picks to add immediate help to Martin St-Louis' lineup?
Marc-Olivier Beaudoin has notably targeted two players who could interest the Canadiens. They are New York Rangers forward Kaapo Kakko and Philadelphia Flyers forward Owen Tippett.
At 24 years old, the former second overall pick of the Rangers had his best season ever with a tally of 40 points in 82 games. A change of scenery would certainly be beneficial for the Finn and could help him reach his full potential.
On the other hand, Owen Tippett has had a meteoric rise this year, scoring 27 goals and 22 assists (49 points) in 77 games. There is no doubt that the 6'1", 207-pound right winger would be an excellent addition to the team's top two lines.
The next few hours promise to be eventful for the Canadiens!
