Recently, in a recent episode of Tony Marinaro's popular podcast, David Reinbacher's head coach in Switzerland, Gerry Fleming, made a statement that raised many eyebrows regarding his young player.

While he will be coaching the 18-year-old this year, Flemming mentioned that he would compare his potential in the NHL to a player now despised in Montreal, none other than Jeff Petry.

"I coached Jeff Petry... he's lanky, defends well, moves the puck exceptionally well, his defensive skills are solid." - Gerry Fleming

I don't know about you, but comparing Reinbacher to Petry is chilling, especially since the Kloten team's coach said the former number 26 of the Habs had "solid defensive abilities."

Frankly, if the long-term potential of the Austrian defenseman really is Jeff Petry, then we can say that the Canadiens seriously missed the mark with their fifth overall pick.

Even though he had four seasons with more than 40 points in the NHL, Petry only managed to reach this milestone at age 30. It took him a long time to become a top 4 defenseman in this league, especially considering his highly inconsistent play.

Let's hope the young man will be much better than Jeff Petry at his peak in the National Hockey League.
