Since last weekend, a mysterious story has been making headlines, involving Colorado Avalanche hockey team forward Valeri Nichushkin, who suddenly left his team, accompanied by security to the airport to take a flight to an unknown destination.
Since then, there has been no news from him, which is quite concerning.
Yesterday, journalist Frank Seravalli stated that all of this could be related to an alcohol-related incident in the team hotel, which was deemed serious enough for the Avalanche organization to intervene.
However, in response to Seravalli's rumor, Nichushkin's agent, Mark Gandler, has just denied these allegations in an interview, stating that his client's situation had nothing to do with alcohol.
For now, there is no confirmation from either side as to who is right or wrong. Let's just say that all of this greatly adds to the confusion in this troubling story.
Obviously, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has confirmed that Nichushkin will not be in uniform for tonight's fifth game of the series.
