Knowing that Pierre-Luc Dubois has repeatedly expressed his desire to play for the Canadiens and that Kent Hughes attempted to acquire him last summer, rumors sending him to Montreal have been circulating quite a bit since last Wednesday.
In fact, on their podcast 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek discussed potential destinations for the 24-year-old forward. According to them, there's no doubt that the Tricolore is the team with the best chance of acquiring his services, to the point that there's no second-place team given how far ahead the CH was in this case.
Wow! That says a lot about Pierre-Luc Dubois's intentions!
Let's not forget that even though several teams may bid to acquire Dubois, the forward must first sign a new agreement before a trade can take place. If the Quebecer is dead set on playing for the Canadiens, he might decide not to accept any contract offers until he has confirmation that he will be traded to Montreal.
One thing is certain, a trade should happen very soon as the NHL draft is only 18 days away.
At the age of 24, Pierre-Luc Dubois just had his best season ever with a total of 26 goals and 37 assists (63 points) in 73 games. The forward notably reached the 60 point plateau three times in the last five seasons where he played more than 70 games.
