Jets' coach, Rick Bowness, did not mince words in expressing his dissatisfaction after his team's elimination :
Now that the season is over, Jets' general manager, Kevin Cheveldayoff, will have to address a major issue : the case of Pierre-Luc Dubois, who will become a restricted free agent.
For several weeks, or even months, the Quebec-born forward has been linked to the Canadiens. However, according to Elliotte Friedman, several teams would be interested in acquiring the center, even if it would only be for one season.
However, the renowned journalist also mentioned in his 32 Thoughts podcast that Montreal is the most realistic destination for Pierre-Luc Dubois, who has not hidden his desire to wear the Canadiens' jersey in the near future.
The forward from Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts has just completed his best career season with an impressive tally of 27 goals and 36 assists in 73 games, which could certainly explain the interest of several general managers in acquiring him.
Kent Hughes thus finds himself in a very difficult situation: Is it better to try to bring back the services of the Quebecer by paying a high price this summer, or is it better to wait for the free agent market in 2024, hoping that PLD signs a contract with the Habs?
It will be very interesting to see the approach the Canadiens' general manager will take this summer!
