While it's always normal to see scouts at NHL games, it's less common to see as many at American League games, unless something is brewing behind the scenes.
However, a blatant clue suggests that a possible transaction is in the works for the Canadiens, as there were no fewer than 10 NHL scouts at yesterday's meeting. Wow!
This is huge and almost unusual for an AHL game. Such a large number, even irregular for a National League game, especially at the beginning of the season, is downright eye-catching.
Is Kent Hughes currently in discussion for assets in his farm team?
Did scouts come to see Joel Armia, who is clearly a tradable player with the CH?
Is Mathias Norlinder currently being marketed by his GM? Let's remember that Hughes recently stated he is open to trading the Swedish defenseman, due to the surplus of left-handed rearguards.
These are all legitimate questions that could explain the impressive number of recruiters at Place Bell. The next few days will be ones to watch for the Tricolore.
