Obviously, being the first overall pick comes with enormous pressure, especially in a market like Montreal's. The fans have very high expectations for Juraj Slafkovsky, who has often been the target of numerous criticisms on social media in recent months.
However, the Slovak admitted he was in no way affected by what people say about him, being fully confident in his abilities. To this end, the Canadiens' forward confessed he simply doesn't look at the negative comments from fans, adding that he laughs when he comes across certain criticisms by accident.
«I know which apps to avoid, but when I can't avoid them, I laugh about it.» - Juraj Slafkovsky
Honestly, we are very happy to see that he only focuses on his game on the ice and on how he can improve to become a top-tier forward. This is precisely the mindset one must have in the intense Montreal market.
He showed very encouraging signs during the preseason games, and we are all eagerly waiting to see how he will perform this season. Let's not forget he is only 19 years old and a forward with a playing style similar to his often takes longer to develop.
Just ask Mikko Rantanen and Tage Thompson!
One thing's for sure, Juraj Slafkovsky has immense potential, and he also has an impeccable attitude, as Martin St-Louis so aptly mentioned. A very important asset to keep progressing and become an impact player in the league.
