Kent Hughes confirmed a big rumor about Jeff Petry with the Canadiens
With the announcement of Jeff Petry's second departure from Montreal, Kent Hughes revealed some very interesting information about his return to the team, thereby confirming a big rumor about him.
While he was available for a press conference, following the unveiling of the trade, the Canadiens' GM admitted that the plan was definitely to trade the 35-year-old defenseman.
He even stated that in an ideal world, he would have been part of another transaction that would have been announced a few hours after the first one. However, due to the very tight deadline he had to work with, he couldn't do it.
He asserts, however, that the Petry family knew what to expect and that he was aware of the situation which involved another subsequent trade.
We greatly appreciate the transparency of Hughes who provided context to several interesting elements of this big move by the Canadiens.
