In relation to this draft, there is a very important event for NHL scouts currently taking place in Switzerland, the Under-18 World Championship. Naturally, several executives are present to better evaluate the prospects participating, including many who are expected to be selected this summer.
This is the case for Kent Hughes, who is on site with Martin Lapointe, co-director of amateur scouting for the Canadiens. They were spotted spying on the game between Slovakia and Finland.
They were watching a prospect expected to be selected in the top-10 of the 2023 draft, another Slovakian talent in Dalibor Dvorsky.
The 17-year-old is a center player with a good size of 6 feet 1 inch and over 200 pounds. He's absolutely on fire during this tournament, leading his team's offense with six goals and 11 points in just five games. His name is on everyone's lips right now at the U18.
Everything could depend on the final selection rank of the Canadiens, which will be determined in about ten days by the draft lottery, but if the club were to draft at the 6th or 7th position, it's very likely that Dvorsky could become a potential target for the Montreal organization.
