Kirby Dach made a statement that speaks volumes about Martin St. Louis
After three seasons marred by injuries and disappointing performances in Chicago, Kirby Dach is truly reviving his career with the Montreal Canadiens. Indeed, the third overall pick in the 2019 draft had an excellent season last year, accumulating a total of 14 goals and 24 assists in 58 games, which equates to roughly a 53-point campaign over a full season.
There is no doubt that the 22-year-old centerman has a tremendous amount of talent, and Canadiens fans can be excited at the prospect of seeing the newcomer reach his full potential in the coming years. Dach himself had high praise for his new head coach, Martin St. Louis, giving him a lot of credit for the progress he's made over the past year.
"Marty first told me: Go out and play, I'm not going to tell you what to do. I'm not going to tell you what you have to do, but go out there, find your confidence and we'll take it from there. He supported me a lot. He played a significant role in my game and allowed me to find the joy in playing again." - Kirby Dach
Clearly, Martin St. Louis is playing a crucial role with the young players in the organization, which is very promising considering all the prospects joining the team in the next few years. Just like Kirby Dach, Cole Caufield has also experienced a significant rise since the hiring of the Quebecer.
Furthermore, the former Chicago Blackhawks forward quickly acclimated to his new teammates, confessing his love for playing at the Bell Centre in front of such passionate fans. One thing is for sure, Kirby Dach seems thrilled to be in Montreal, and that bodes well for the future.
"The locker room is amazing. There's great camaraderie, the guys are always laughing. You get on the ice in the morning, and Cole is buzzing. He doesn't even drink coffee, but he's always making everyone laugh."
"It's really crazy to play there [in MTL]. I've been here for a year now, and I haven't had this much fun playing hockey since my junior days. The fans are incredible, the city is fantastic, and the atmosphere is electric." - Kirby Dach
We're all eager to see his progress this season, potentially completing a line alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. Do you believe Kirby Dach will reach the 50-point plateau this season?
