Last-minute signing alert of another hometown defenseman
A signing announcement has just occurred in the NHL, as Quebecer defender Simon Benoit has just agreed to terms with the Toronto Maple Leafs for one season.
He will pocket a salary of $775,000 for the next year. We're quite pleased that another player from Quebec has found work.
At 24 years old, Benoit was never drafted into the National League. He made his way in the Anaheim Ducks organization after three junior seasons with the Shawinigan Cataractes.
In 137 career games in the NHL, he has three goals and 10 points.
