Just a few weeks after his appointment as the club's general manager, he has already made several big trades, and he continues to work hard to improve the long-term fate of his organization.
According to the latest information reported by insider Frank Seravalli, the Quebecer even recently refused a major transaction involving one of his top players.
He reportedly said no to the St. Louis Blues for a trade involving forward Scott Laughton, which would have brought in a 2023 first-round pick, either the 25th or 29th, in addition to a second-round pick for 2024.
We know that Brière is actively shopping his player, so we can infer that he possibly wants to get more than that, even if this offer seemed very solid in my opinion.
At 29 years old, Laughton finished the last season with a record of 18 goals and 43 points in 78 games. He has three more seasons to go in his current deal earning him $3M, annually.
