Major turn of events regarding Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Canadiens
According to the information reported by Murat Ates yesterday afternoon, the Jets and the Kings had reportedly agreed on the terms of a trade involving forward Pierre-Luc Dubois. However, just when it was believed that this saga was finally about to conclude, Pierre Lebrun just made a major revelation in this case.
Indeed, according to his information, the Kings' General Manager, Rob Blake, has still not received permission to speak with Dubois's camp about a long-term contract extension. This statement thus casts doubt on whether an agreement has officially been reached between the two teams.
These contract conversations [between the Kings and Dubois's camp] have not yet taken place either. The Jets and the Kings should both be convinced that a trade is about to be concluded before the Kings start this conversation with the Jets' blessing. - Pierre Lebrun
Furthermore, Arpon Basu, who works for The Athletic, just added fuel to the fire by mentioning that the Canadiens are still very interested in finding a way to acquire the services of the 24-year-old Quebecer. Moreover, according to a source close to PLD, it is still too early to exclude the Tricolore from the Pierre-Luc Dubois derby.
Following up on Pierre's report that Dubois is leaning towards the Kings, I was told that the Canadiens are still open to finding a way to make the Dubois case work, should talks derail. A source close to Dubois said it's too early to count them out, as unlikely as that may seem for now. - Arpon Basu
Wow!
Do you think Pierre-Luc Dubois could force Kevin Cheveldayoff's hand by refusing to sign a contract extension with the Kings?
