Rocket's Lineup Unveiled: it will be filled with Talented Young Prospects
Besides the arrival of Alex Newhook and the departures of veterans Joel Edmundson, Jonathan Drouin, and Mike Hoffman, the Canadiens' lineup should be almost the same as last year. Of course, Martin St. Louis can count on several players returning who unfortunately missed the end of the 2022-2023 season due to injuries.
However, a quick glance at the players under contract who are likely to play with the Laval Rocket this season shows an incredible youth movement has taken place within the farm team. Many veterans have left, while many prospects will be making their professional debuts.
Nothing will be finalized until the end of training camp, and of course, there will be injuries, but when trying to put together a potential lineup, it's clear that there will be several young players with promising potential in Laval this season. This will likely be the roster with the most quality prospects in many years for the Habs. One thing's for sure, it'll be very interesting to track the team's performance in 2023-2024.
Potential lineup for the Laval Rocket for the first game of the season:
Sean Farrell -- Lias Andersson -- Joshua Roy
Emil Heineman -- Riley Kidney -- Filip Mesar
Xavier Simoneau -- Philippe Maillet -- Nathan Légaré
Jared Davidson -- Mitchell Stephens -- Gabriel Bourque
Extras: Jan Mysak, Lucas Condotta, Brandon Gignac, Nolan Yaremko, Alex-Olivier Voyer, Jakov Novak, John Parker-Jones, Riley McKay
William Trudeau -- Justin Barron
Jayden Struble -- Logan Mailloux
Mattias Norlinder -- Nicolas Beaudin
Extras: Olivier Galipeau, Miguel Tourigny, Tobie Paquette-Bisson, Brady Keeper, Christopher Merisier-Ortiz, Noah Laaouan
Cayden Primeau -- Jakub Dobes
Extras: Strauss Mann, Zachary Émond Wow! This roster would be extremely interesting to follow, both from a talent and development standpoint.
Some teams in the AHL adopt a win-now approach, while others focus on developing players for the next level. There's no doubt that Jean-François Houle's mission this season will be to help the Canadiens' young prospects progress to aid the Montreal Canadiens in the coming years.
We are very excited to see this team take the ice at Place Bell on October 13th. It will certainly be fascinating to follow the performances and progress of our prospects, who will be facing much tougher competition than in junior ranks. It will be an ideal opportunity to assess their talent.
