Scandal concerning the 2018 Team Canada Junior: The names of the players involved will be known in the next few days
The scandal surrounding the 2018 Junior Team Canada is undoubtedly the issue that has attracted the most attention over the summer season. Indeed, for several weeks, many sources have indicated that the five players involved would soon be known and would face severe suspensions from the NHL.
However, just a few days ago, Gary Bettman's right-hand man, Bill Daly, mentioned that he had no timeline for an official announcement, casting doubt on whether the concerned players would be reprimanded anytime soon.
On the other hand, the excellent Martin Leclerc revealed very interesting information in his latest column on Radio-Canada's website. The journalist admitted that the independent investigation carried out by the NHL was indeed completed, and the League was preparing to sanction the five involved players, among whom some well-known players would be included.
Moreover, according to information received by Radio-Canada, the London police are about to bring criminal charges against the five players from the Canadian team. We can therefore expect suspensions to occur very quickly and for the identity of the concerned players to be unveiled.
Yikes! Imagine if the London police were to bring criminal charges even before the NHL decided to suspend the players.
One thing is certain, this issue should be resolved in the coming days, and several NHL players will be suspended, also facing criminal charges.
Things are likely to get heated as some members of Team Canada might see their careers compromised!
