About a month ago, we discussed a terrifying scene that ended the season for Matt Duchene, the forward for the Nashville Predators. This scene could have even ended his career. An article from TVA Sports reports that the forward has agreed to talk about this event and has revealed some scary details. Before that, here's a reminder of the scene in question:
Duchene lost a part of his finger while blocking a shot:
«When Duchene removed his glove after blocking the shot, the tip of his finger was still inside the glove. »
The Nashville Predators' forward has revisited this episode.
«I felt strange. I took off my glove, looked at my finger, and that was the last time I saw it.»
« There are moments you never forget. I was sitting there and the doctor asked me where my glove was. I looked and said, 'Why? Do you think a piece of my finger is in there?' They hid it from me by keeping the missing segment. » - Matt Duchene
It is true that losing a part of his body was a mentally challenging ordeal for Matt Duchene, and that is completely understandable. Despite the two surgeries he underwent, he unfortunately will not be able to recover the lost piece of his finger.
«The specialists did not reconnect the pieces, instead opting for the attachment of the nail and the insertion of a screw to promote the healing of the fractured bones. » - Via TVA Sports
Before this serious injury, 32-year-old Matt Duchene managed to accumulate 56 points, including 22 goals, in 71 games this season, which is a testament to his brilliant performance on the ice. After a very long period of recovery, he should be ready for the start of next season.
