The captain of the Canadiens, Nick Suzuki, made a very interesting statement when he met the media yesterday afternoon. Indeed, the 23-year-old mentioned that he wanted to build something special with Cole Caufield in their upcoming years with the Tricolore.
The two teammates have great chemistry on the ice, but they have also forged a strong friendship off of it. Suzuki was very happy to learn that his best friend within the Montreal team would be back for the next eight seasons, and he immediately called him as soon as he heard the news.
One thing is for sure, this beautiful complicity shared by the two star forwards of the Canadiens can only be beneficial for the future of the club.
"It's great. I know people were anxious to find out what would happen. I heard the news from Kent the previous day so I called Cole and we talked a little. It's exciting that he's returning to Montreal. For this length of time, we can build something special together." - Nick Suzuki
It seems that Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield have agreed to sign a less lucrative contract to allow Kent Hughes to have greater flexibility to strengthen the lineup. It's nice to see that both players are in Montreal for the right reasons and are ready to make sacrifices to help the CH succeed in the coming years.
"I have a lot of respect for Cole and his game. We want to build something special as a team here. This is a contract that is good for both parties and leaves room to bring in other players and get better. The Golden Knights just won the cup with a ton of depth, and that's something we are looking for as well." - Nick Suzuki
We can't wait to see them back in action on the ice at the Bell Centre!
