It's rare to see this coming directly from an NHL team, but the Montreal Canadiens have just confirmed a big rumor.
Ever since the team acquired Jeff Petry, several rumors mentioned that Kent Hughes was actively trying to trade him. Although these were just speculations and there was no confirmation of this, the Canadiens have now definitively shown their hand regarding the veteran defenseman.
"The Habs are reporting their own trade rumors. It's on the official app (and on the official website) of the Tricolore."
- Habs Chronicle
In essence, on its official website, the Tricolore published an article with the very revealing title: "The Habs are trying to trade Petry."
While we're not surprised that the 35-year-old American is on the market, it's still quite astonishing to see the CH confirm such a trade rumor.
It's refreshing to see this rare transparency from the Montreal organization!
