In connection with the recent creation of a mid-season competitive tournament in the NBA, the NHL has decided that it does not intend to emulate this league.
For those wondering why the NBA decided to add such a tournament in the middle of the season, know that the goal is to add high-quality basketball outside of the playoffs. This event will take place in November and December, where the 30 teams will participate and will be divided into 5 new divisions.
There is also significant interest for the players, as members of the winning team of the "NBA cup" will each receive half a million dollars.
It is clear that the league will also generate very significant economic spin-offs considering the strong excitement for such an event.
Although this tournament is a fairly unusual concept in North America, it will allow fans to see more competitive basketball in a single season.
