We mentioned yesterday that things are really not going well for Alexis Lafrenière with the New York Rangers, in his 4th NHL training camp.
Journalist Klak Brennan stated that the chemistry really hasn't clicked between the new head coach and the first overall pick of 2020. Much like what we saw with his predecessor, Lafrenière does not seem to be in the good graces of Peter Laviolette at the moment.
His level of play is downright deficient to the point where his coach doesn't know what to do with him in the lineup.
Furthermore, in relation to his performance in this training camp, another well-known and respected journalist in the industry has just made a striking statement about the 21-year-old Quebecer.
«Lafrenière looks like an undrafted player on a professional tryout at training camp.»
Larry Brooks, New York Post
Ouch! Despite his immense talent, he is simply not able to shift into the next gear in his development, leading him to unfortunately look like a draft «bust».
Considering he was the first pick of his class, ahead of the likes of Tim Stutzle among others, it doesn't bode well for his future in New York.
