Transaction involving Cayden Primeau: Kent Hughes reveals big information about the future of the goaltender
For several weeks, many fans have mentioned that the Montreal Canadiens did not wish to submit Cayden Primeau to waivers for fear of losing him without receiving anything in return.
Moreover, during an interview with Alexandre Gascon from Radio-Canada, the general manager of the Tricolore, Kent Hughes, made a significant statement about his young 24-year-old goaltender.
Indeed, he revealed the reason that led the organization to start the season with three goalies in its lineup, indicating that an NHL team was highly interested in acquiring Primeau. This situation would have forced the management to keep him with the Canadiens, knowing full well that said team would have claimed him on waivers.
"According to Kent Hughes' interview with Alexandre Gascon, Cayden Primeau would likely have been claimed on waivers by a team that inquired about him for a trade, which forced the Canadiens to include three goalies in their lineup.
Good decision, or was it time to part with Primeau?"
However, according to information recently shared by Renaud Lavoie, the Montreal Canadiens would like to resolve this matter soon, allowing Martin St-Louis to have only two goaltenders in his lineup.
Could Kent Hughes therefore come back and try to conclude a transaction with the team that wanted to obtain Cayden Primeau?
One thing is certain, this will be a situation to watch closely in the coming weeks, as having three goalies is clearly not ideal, both for the three goalies involved and for Martin St-Louis.
