The center player no longer fits in with the team and has significantly slowed down. In fact, he now pivots the team's 4th line, which is quite ordinary given his salary and what Marc Bergevin paid to acquire him.
He no longer fits into the plans, and it appears this has been the case since he arrived three years ago. Now in the final year of his contract, he needs to step up before it's too late.
He hasn't done so up to this point, and he hasn't given Martin St-Louis any real reason to grant him more playing time. In a way, it's unfortunate.
Kent Hughes must therefore try to move him or wait for his contract to expire this summer. Much like with Mike Hoffman, we genuinely hope he can secure a trade.
According to Maxim Lapierre, this is the first transaction the general manager will make.
We agree that the chances of him staying with the Canadiens next year are slim. Kent Hughes won't sign him, unless there's a huge surprise. The team's youngsters are pushing and stealing the show.
Personally, I'm not surprised by this statement from Lapierre, but I still wonder how Kent Hughes is going to trade him. Even though Dvorak is in the last year of his contract, he doesn't bring anything anymore in my opinion.
He's effective on a 4th line with a few defensive assignments, but at the trade deadline, teams are looking for impact players who can make a difference. Unfortunately, that's not Christian Dvorak's profile.
