Since the start of the season, Martin St. Louis has used only six defensemen: Michael Matheson, Kaiden Guhle, Lane Hutson, David Savard, Arber Hxekaj and Justin Barron.

Even though there have been only four games played so far, we shouldn't expect to see these six defensemen used for 82 games because there will certainly be injuries.

However, there could be a change in the lineup for the next game scheduled for Thursday night.

According to TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie, we should expect Jayden Struble to return to play very soon.

At least that's what he said via his X account, while Canadiens' head coach Martin St-Louis confirmed that the left-handed defenseman had been given the green light by doctors.

This is excellent news for the Canadiens because the presence of a defenseman of Struble's caliber is essential for the future of things at the start of this young season.

It should be noted that the latter had an excellent training camp and that he truly earned his place in the top six on defense.

It remains to be seen which defenseman will suffer from Jayden Struble's return to play, while some experts had even mentioned that he had overtaken a certain Arber Xhekaj in the hierarchy of defensemen with the Canadiens.

It is not yet known whether St. Louis will reintegrate the young 23-year-old defenseman into the lineup for the Canadiens' next game scheduled for Thursday night at the Bell Centre against the Los Angeles Kings.

A second-round pick by the Canadiens in 2019, Struble played 56 games in 2023-2024, where he collected a total of 10 points (3 goals and 7 assists).
