Martin St-Louis's Winning Recipe Revealed
In his second full season as head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Martin St-Louis appears increasingly comfortable in his role leading the Habs. What is the hometown coach winning recipe?
According to TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau, Martin St-Louis has a unique profile, which contributes to his success with the organization's players.
''Martin St-Louis is a leader. Not a boss. Look at his reaction here. He gives the impression of living each day with the passion he had when he played. He doesn't put himself above the players, but alongside them. No wonder he brings out the best in them.'' - Anthony Martineau
His leadership and passion for hockey are the ingredients that ensure the locker room believes wholeheartedly and shares their coach's vision. Throughout his playing career, Martin St-Louis was seen as a natural leader in the locker room, on the ice, and off the ice.
It's easy to see that he still possesses this trait despite the passing years. It will be interesting to see if his general manager Kent Hughes will offer him a contract extension by the end of his current agreement in June 2025.
Next year, the Canadiens' head coach will enter the third and final year of his contract. Pressure will begin to mount for results. It's a safe bet that the progress of young players and the addition of some assets during the summer could propel the Montreal Canadiens into the playoffs."
