He left his position to take on new challenges before the start of the 2023-24 season, which left a big void for the specialty channel TVA Sports.
Fortunately for the fans and the channel, there was someone very competent that I love to take over in Anthony Martineau. Mapper's successor is very relevant in his interventions.
That said, what we liked about Mapper was his energy. He was very enthusiastic and he made us want to listen to what he had to say. It's a winning formula for attracting fans to listen to the channel, and it's also why he was so successful.
But during this time in silence, Marc-André had another childhood dream that he had not accomplished. It's true that covering the Canadiens on a daily basis must be an accomplishment, but nothing beats living your dream.
Mapper wanted to become a police officer, and he recently graduated from the École nationale de police du Québec in Nicolet.
I am taking the time to write this text because I know that it is greatly appreciated and that the Canadiens fans will be happy to hear this good news about him.
It is also a beautiful story of hope and tenacity. Mapper is not old, but he is over 40 years old and going back to school at this age, when he had a very successful career, to live his dream, is very inspiring.
I wish him much success and happiness in his new role. If you ever get stopped by him, you will know that you can talk about the Montreal Canadiens!
