We still have movement on NHL waivers this Thursday, October 24.

As Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman pointed out, forward Conor Sheary was not claimed during his time on waivers, and he will therefore remain with the Lightning, but has just been transferred to the American League.

Furthermore, a new name has appeared on the list of available players: Chad Ruhwedel, New York Rangers defenseman.

A 34-year veteran, Ruhwedel has accumulated 365 games in the NHL, playing for the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and most recently the Rangers.

He also lifted the Stanley Cup during his career.

This reliable right-handed defenseman could interest several teams, especially since he is under contract for an affordable salary of $775,000 until the end of the season.

With a top-5 priority on waivers until November 1, the Montreal Canadiens could look into this issue, especially with Justin Barron's injury.

What's the worst? That CH uses him for a few games, sends him on waivers and the Rangers decide to get him back?

Note that Kent Hughes has not yet used his advantage on waivers, despite the presence of a certain Jakob Pelletier, who was available. The latter has eight points in six games in the American League since the start of the season with the Calgary Wranglers.

Considering that Kent Hughes is active in the exchange market, it will be interesting to see what he decides to do.

File to follow.
