Official statement from the Montreal Canadiens
Yesterday afternoon, a huge tragedy occurred in the NHL as the former assistant general manager of the Calgary Flames, Chris Snow, sadly passed away at the age of just 42.
Jeff Gorton, the Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Montreal Canadiens, issued a very touching statement to offer his sincerest condolences to Chris's family and the entire Flames organization.
"On my own behalf, on behalf of Kent, Martin, and the entire Canadiens organization, we wish to extend our most sincere condolences to the family of Chris Snow. Despite the many obstacles that came his way, Chris never stopped showing immense courage. Chris is an inspiration to many people throughout the NHL, never backing down in his fight against ALS. Our thoughts are with his wife Kelsie, his children Cohen and Willa, his family, and the entire Calgary Flames organization." - Jeff Gorton
Chris Snow was unfortunately diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2019, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control, muscle weakness, and eventually paralysis.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this horrifying ordeal.
