Arber Xhekaj is already getting invited to drop the gloves, and his reaction is unexpected
As mentioned earlier, Arber Xhekaj's first game with the Rocket showed promise as the Belleville Senators placed their tough guy Bokondji Imama on the first line.
The goal was quite clear: not to be intimidated by Arber Xhekaj. Instead, the opposite happened, as Imama invited Xhekaj to dance at a faceoff. The reaction of the colossal defenseman surprised many.
"Bokondji Imama invites Arber Xhekaj to fight at the faceoff. Xhekaj refuses. The game continues. Riley McKay grabs Angus Crookshank. Beginning of a skirmish involving Imama, McKay, and several players. Some physicality but undisciplined play from McKay."
- Via Anthony Marcotte Fighting to defend teammates because something happened on the ice, I think everyone agrees with that. However, fighting for nothing due to an invitation at a faceoff is quite pointless.
Maturity comes into play for Xhekaj. Once he learns to control himself and channel his energy in the right place at the right time, he should become quite the hockey player.
