The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have re-signed 21-year-old center Jared Davidson. He was a fifth-round pick, 130th overall, in the 2022 National Hockey League draft.

He began his professional career last season with the Laval Rocket. In 38 games, Davidson recorded 11 goals and 16 assists, with a +1 rating and 31 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot, 180-pound center played his junior career with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League, where he spent 5 seasons.

The Rocket will rely on Davidson to help them secure a playoff spot for at least the next two seasons.

It's worth noting that the Rocket did not make the playoffs last season!

With a record of 33 wins, 31 losses, along with 6 overtime losses and 2 shootout losses, totaling 74 points. This placed them in last position in the North Division of the American Hockey League.

Davidson will continue his development with the Rocket. It will be interesting to see how the coaching staff utilizes him. Will he be a depth player, or will he be able to maintain pace within the top two lines?

Jared Davidson proved at the junior level that he could score goals, but can he do it at a higher level? Last season, Davidson managed to score 3 goals in the game with the Rocket on February 16th, in a 5-2 victory against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The left-handed center will begin his second professional season with confidence, having finished third in goals for the Rocket in his first season. The Canadiens had until June 1st to sign him.
