The famous ranking of the 100 best athletes of the 21st century has been officially published by ESPN.

Considered the new sensation of the NHL since his draft in 2015, Connor McDavid nearly missed being included.

At the very end of the list, you can see the name of the world's best hockey player in the 98th spot. This list once again shows that hockey is truly undervalued in the United States. The mere fact that Connor McDavid should be in the same category as guys like Jason Tatum, Shohei Ohtani, and others...

Connor McDavid is the 98th best athlete of the 21st century, according to ESPN

If there is only one hockey player who can reach the 2,000-point milestone besides Wayne Gretzky, it is indeed Connor McDavid.

For example, alongside McDavid, there is Ed Reed, who was an excellent defensive player in the NFL, notably for the Baltimore Ravens, but who, under the circumstances, cannot be compared to Connor McDavid when looking at their contributions to their respective sports.

This publication simply lacks consideration and appreciation for the talent of number 97 of the Edmonton Oilers.

Journalist David Staples was notably stunned to see seven WNBA players among the large number of athletes ahead of McDavid in this ranking. While the WNBA is experiencing incredible growth in 2024... it would be hard to believe that the seven candidates have had greater careers than Connor McDavid after nine years in the NHL.

It's extremely difficult to dominate and excel in hockey, so McDavid truly deserves more credit. His ability to produce points, but especially his ability to create plays at a speed never seen before in NHL history, sets him apart from other great names.

Connor McDavid, 27, has accumulated 982 points in 645 games, plus 117 points in 74 NHL playoff games.

One must therefore take note of his incredible achievements. With an offensive production of 1.5 points per game since entering the world's best hockey league, Connor McDavid doesn't seem to be slowing down, and the Oilers have a solid core of players for the next decade. If he stays healthy, we could witness a second player reaching the 2,000-point milestone in their career.

And you, where would you place Connor McDavid in this ranking?
